After graduating from Hamilton College, Dr Fudyma attended medical school here in Buffalo where he graduated with highest honors. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine in Buffalo as well and joined the Department of Medicine’s Division of General Internal Medicine at the Erie County Medical Center. During his early career he served on the ECMC Governing Board and subsequently became the ECMC Chief Medical Officer. He held that position until 2008 when he became the Chief Medical Officer of the Seneca Nation Health Department. He returned to the Jacobs School of Medicine in 2011 as the Division Chief of General Internal Medicine. In 2020 he led an effort to develop a primary care practice for members of BC/BS. Most recently he has returned to UB as Interim Division Chief for General Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine.
He is passionate about improving systems of care for all patients as well as developing models of care to prevent physician burnout. As a primary care physician, he understands the challenges that community physicians face in preventing illness as well as in managing patients with multiple chronic conditions.
He currently lives in Snyder, NY with his wife Sarah and dog Benny.
