Joining the Medical Society of the County of Erie is one of the most effective ways to protect your ability to practice medicine, amplify your voice in advocacy, and unlock substantial member-only savings on insurance, services, and programs that can more than offset the cost of dues.

Physicians join the Medical Society of the County of Erie through the Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) online portal, which processes both state and county memberships together on a single application. To join or renew, visit the MSSNY membership site, select the appropriate membership category, and be sure to choose Erie County as your county society so that your MSCE membership is activated alongside your MSSNY membership. Membership runs on a calendar-year basis, so joining now ensures you receive the full value of MSCE and MSSNY programs, services, and advocacy for the current membership year.

Individual Membership

When you join through the MSSNY website, you automatically become a member of both MSSNY and MSCE, connecting you to powerful advocacy at the state level and a strong physician community at the county level. Categories of membership (as defined by MSSNY) include:

  • Practicing physicians (MDs/DOs)
  • Residents and fellows
  • Medical students
  • Retired physicians

By joining via the MSSNY portal, you gain immediate access to MSCE’s local programs—leadership development, networking, education, and public health initiatives—while also benefiting from statewide advocacy, practice resources, and CME. Return to the MSSNY website anytime to join or renew, and ensure your Erie County membership remains active.

Organizational (Group) Membership

For hospitals, large group practices, academic departments, IPAs, and other physician organizations, organizational membership is the most efficient way to support your physicians and connect them with both MSCE and MSSNY. Under MSSNY’s updated Organizational Membership structure, organizations with 10 or more physicians (MDs/DOs) can enroll their physicians at a discounted per-member dues rate, with the discount increasing as group size grows. Erie County matches MSSNY’s organizational discount on county dues, so your physicians receive full state and county membership at a significantly reduced rate.

Eligible organizations include: hospital medical staff, group practices, medical school faculty, independent practice associations (IPAs), hospital departments, and specialty societies. Discounted rates are based on the number of physicians in the organization, with meaningful savings beginning at 10 physicians and increasing for larger groups; for very large organizations committed to multi‑year participation, discounts can be substantial. By enrolling through the MSSNY organizational membership model, your institution extends the benefits of organized medicine to more physicians, amplifies their collective advocacy voice, and ensures easy access to MSCE and MSSNY programs, leadership opportunities, and resources. To explore organizational membership, start with the MSSNY website and indicate your interest in the Organizational Membership Category, then work with MSCE and MSSNY staff to finalize your group agreement.

Renew Your Membership

Membership is annual and runs on a calendar-year basis, so renewing on time is essential to avoid interruptions in your benefits. To renew, simply return to the MSSNY membership website, log in, and complete your renewal, confirming Erie County as your county society. Renewing through MSSNY automatically renews your MSCE membership, keeping you connected to local and statewide advocacy, education, and community. Visit the MSSNY website whenever you need to join, renew, or update your membership information to remain fully engaged with MSCE and MSSNY.Thank you for your commitment to physician-led medicine and for partnering with us to strengthen the physicians who care for Western New York—your engagement and support truly make a difference in the future of our profession and the health of our communities.
